Eventful week

It's been an eventful week ....

Last Sunday I made my way up to Waitangi Park to get shots of TS painting a bus as part of the ACT RIGHT anti-violence campaign for GO Wellington. I didn't stick around long but the bus was looking pretty dope.

I woke up to a text from Odin stating that a new pastey had been put up on the makeshift construction wall not far from the usual route to work. Malice is DOPE!!!

Took a trip up to Mt Crawford to see if anything new had appeared in the few weeks since we had last been there. Not much had changed apart from the AIM one above ...

And finally Friday 11th saw the re-release of Massage Magazine @ Meow Cafe. We braved the wind and the odd rain shower to chill in the courtyard out the back. Organic beer isn't so bad after all :-P
....................

Looking to buy some graf related Christmas presents?? Head over to MR GRAFFITI graf supplies. Only $4 postage fee sucka!

....................

With Christmas just around the corner and the prospect of a well earned holiday on the horizon I'm going to apologise in advance for posts slowing down over the next couple of weeks. If I can motivate myself OUT of holiday mode and tear myself away from the beers I plan on consuming I'll put some photos up.

The Wheat Issue

Good to see The BMD up and around the place again. Wellington was missing out for a few months there!

....................

Wellington has gone through a surge of poster artists of late. Is it because the act of postering is a little less risky that say tagging or bombing? Whatever it is I'm liking it.

The Wheatie Boys

Awwwh I found this while getting snaps of the PNTR stencil shown in the ARO SERVO / WHAT THE BUFF post. Shy girls coming at ya!

PNTR

I've been on a mad mission around town trying to photograph as many of PNTR's posters as I can. I'm grateful that alot of them are up around the area I live. I'm still wondering what has caused this mass exodus to Wellington from Dunedin though?

(I cropped this photo BADLY so It didn't show the wack tag underneath it)

Drypnz

I lost 1 or 2 photos in the process that I'll get at a later date.
And, I know I was going to post up the Yelz & Eek Yeti-Squatch photos but I'll save them for the next post.
So.....

Love it or hate it?

(Eek, The BMD, Surplus Bargains, Enforce1 & Sin)

My laptop is still sitting in the computer-fixers shop so Im scabbing internet from Pink Bits and Eek.
Last time I posted a series of photos of work by The BMD it created a bit of a sore point with a few individuals. Are they too commercial? Too obviously placed? Maybe I am bias? Who knows.... But we still love them.

Street love is alive and well!

My man Mark over at the GRAFFOGRAPHY blog has some more BMD works that I recommend you check out!

New Year

Since the new year has finally arrived and I'm a year older I've been contemplating moving to a different blog server site. One with more options for layouts etc Anyone know of any goodies? I've been researching Wordpress and it has come up tops so far.

Anyways, Ive been pretty lazy over the xmas period with all the drinking and the eating and more drinking you do at this time of year that I kinda let the graf slide right on by.

Got some flicks of IKON painting up what has steadily become his official place to paint, the Salvation Army car park, Vivian Street. It may be my untrained eye but when I went back to get the end result it looked unfinished?

I missed out on a run with 'THE FAMILY' a few weekends back to put up a collab of Eeks, me and Neonate. It looked fkn sick once it it was up. I love seeing the mash up of styles all thrown together. I get the feeling that we'll end up painting together again really soon.

(L -R) BEWARE Eeks and NEONate

Eeks, Pink Bits and Bango (with Gas Mask Girl and 666 put up earlier by SIN)

As of yesterday my camera decided that it was tired of snapping flicks and gave up the ghost. Lucky I have a back up, even though it chews through the batteries like a rabid goat. I apologise for the shift in quality in advance.

Reclaim it back!

I recently recieved this comment from SIN on the above picture when I posted it on my myspace page:

"Hijack of space in Cuba. I invite all people who do paste ups to add to this. Im on a campaign of taking back the spaces taken by posters ( not ones by phantom, they go over theirs every week).I'll Hijack the space, put one of my names there and people can add or go over"

Band poster placement has its place and may not be as evil as some corporate git with a huge budget for advertising but why do they choose to put it over Street Art. Street artists do it for the love, not to get people through the door to drink their watered down beer! Sin has started a good thing here. Let's reclaim the spaces once used and loved by Street Artists and show them that their posters can't stop us! MWAHAHAHA
