Trackside

I hardly ever use the train system in Wellington, but on the one occassion I did we spotted these trackside pieces by Covet and Ikon. Fast forward a few weeks and I went back and got some shots. I had taken alot of photos of this wall but lost them all when my laptop died a tragic death.

I found this hidden gem tucked away out of sight.

Ups to ANONFUNK for rocking this out in the weekend.

Non-graf related news.

We have all heard and/or seen what has happened to Samoa after the earthquake/tsunami that hit them last Wednesday. Kolektiv @ 103 Cuba Mall have launched a campaign 'Have a Heart, Do your part' to raise money and awareness for the victims and their families that were affected.

From Saturday 3 Oct til Friday 9th Oct Kolektiv will be donating a percentage of all profits towards Oxfam Tsunami relief appeal for the Pacific Islands.

During this time provide a Kolektiv proof of purchase to Plum Cafe and recieve a $3 Bowl coffee, of which all proceeds will be contributed to the effort.

Thanks to campaign organiser Cris W. And ups to Manky 166 for the posters!

Tourists

I had some friends stop over for 4 days before they headed off to South America continuing their world tour so I thought I better be a good host and show them around Wellington.

First Stop: Mt Victoria Lookout.

I don't get up here much mostly beacuse I don't have a car and I'm prone to laziness. Not sure who these stencils belong to.

Next Up: TS, Rongotai, Lyall Bay

TS are instantly recognisable no matter where you go. I had to brave the southerly to get a decent shot of this while everyone else sat in the car trying to defrost after freezing half to death at Mt Vic.

(You can see street art photos taken by Przem & Les at this post HERE)

I did attempt to take them down Leftbank but run out of time..

Shouting out all the cool kids!

This post is a bit mis-matched, but I was scouring YouTube for Wellington Graf and came across a short Doco starring Elie from BoomBox Gallery in their old premises.

Heaps of work by TS Ceap Ikon and quite a bit of Leftbank. Choice!

Ikon Slaps BMD

I hadn't seen Ikon around for a while after slowly weening myself off the addiction I had to the shop he works in so it was a nice surprise to see him in action again.

I think I've mentioned
in earlier posts how much I enjoy watching him paint.

Check out GRAFFOGRAPHY for a high resolution photo of this.

Haha I overheard these kids in the photo below saying something along the lines of 'No-one better cap me or else' LOL OR ELSE WHAT? Left Bank isn't known for longevity so it was kinda awkward to hear that being said.

Although I love it how the younger ones are so passionate about what they're doing I don't think they knew that they were in the presence of a well respected established writer painting up the other end? Or maybe they did and that's why they felt comfortable enough to paint almost along side of him? Hmmmm

I was going to put up a photo of a slaps combo but I think it'll have to wait. This is FKN sick COVET!

BMD killing it AGAIN. Thanks for the Laptop borrowage homie. Good to be back in the cyber world once again!

Jam

I've been a bit run off my feet lately trying to juggle a few things around before I go away on holiday (About time too!) and trying to organise a few things for Cuba Street Carnival.

Manky Chops are putting on a live graf/art jam which is sounding very promising indeed. I'll give you the official run-down when all is confirmed. I was approached by the Left Bank Residents association to see if I could organise another Left Bank paint mish as part of the Carnival.... But with all the things going on in one day I would have to be in 3 places at once, and with most of the quality writers being involved in the Manky Chops jam it doesn't leave much to work with sadly. Left Bank could do with sprucing up AGAIN

Since I'm in a bit of a rush, I'll keep this post short.

Thanks to The BMD for the heads up

Bloggers Delight

I've gotta send some love over to TheKidsPresent! for these snaps.

Ikon and Stray had hit these derelict walls over the weekend but everytime I went by, a car would be conveniently parked right in the middle of the piece. Goddamn it!

Bloggers Delight.

Thanks Kid.

(I've got alot of new stuff to post, but couldn't resist posting these first)

SPECIAL BULLETIN!

Man, there was plenty of graf action this weekend. I can't help but interrupt the series I was planning on doing !~!~!

Friday 08.08.08

Managed to catch Ikon and Vents adding some chromey goodness to a very dull, damp and windy LeftBank. Vents is the man! I haven't seen someone paint as fast and fluidly as him for a long time.... As always, Ikon was killing it!

The results!

Saturday 09.08.08

Now everyone knows that the new formula Ironlaks have a less than desirable smell that lingers for a looong time. We were making our way to The Red Shed when the familiar smell of the said paint suddenly from came outta nowhere. Ikon and Vents were up to no good in the car park across the road. I ran over with my camera (I always carry it) and I immediately felt like I was a graf stalker ha! They were good about it and kinda made small talk.

IKONOGRAPHY PART 1

In the small graf scene we have here in Wellington its nice to get to watch such a prolific writer like IKON do his thing.

Good thing about Ikon getting up is that he has alot of respect here and his work usually never gets capped.

Thanks Ikon for being so friendly and allowing me to take photos.
