Quick Update From Manky Chops

Manky Chops are filling the walls with works at Or Near Offer prices. The "ONO Throw Up: Cash and carry" show will run from Friday 1st of may til Saturday 23rd of May.

We have originals and prints from artists such as: Slope, Kelly Thompson, Boltorious, Xoe Hall, Drypnz, Lavinia Knight, DR.fil, Used Bandaid, Jinx in the Sky, Vaune mason, Brydie Hall, Julie Wilson, Juse 1, Kerb, Moni Eckey, Kiran X, and our brother from another mother Mephisto Jones.

Also...We are selling the left over skateboards from last years "Decked Out" show for $100 each...CRAZY.

What:"ONO Throw Up: Cash and Carry" a show full of works by your fav artists and sweeeet deals.

When: Friday 1st may til Saturday 23rd May.

Where:Manky Chops Studio/Gallery, 166a Cuba St, WGTN ...Hours are Tues-Fri 12 til 6 and Saturday 12 til 5

Billboard

Yay. I'm pretty stoked that Kreuzberg Summer Cafe decided on giving Drypnz the chance to paint their empty billboard that was mentioned in an earlier post

I hadn't heard anything from them after I had posted their proposition so naturally I was a bit nervous that no-one had come through. It wasn't til Drypnz text me on the day of that I found out. Relieved!

The colour in the above photo I took is a bit cold looking. Sorry. I had to stand up over the fence and get a shot while some guy pestered me into having a sprig of jasmine. I think it turned out ok! Still, its a bit strange not seeing some Dryppls in there somewhere.

The Cafe mentioned that they might get someone in to change it up a bit in 6 or so months which to me sounds like an awesome Idea. I'll keep everyone posted.

I was walking up Willis St yesterday morning and spotted a construction worker trying to buff a mop tag with a white Posca pen. Oh to be that naive! It made my morning seeing how determined he was (or frustrated arather) to remove it. Ha ha.

One last thing, NEONATE i'm gonna miss you bro. Don't forget about us Wellingtonians! Chur cuzzy!

Surplus Bargains continues to amaze me! The man above, so I've been told is Sir Walter Buller an Ornithologist who killed and stuffed many native bird species.

Haasts Eagle is another extinct bird of New Zealand. It was the largest predatory bird in existence.

Man I love painting! Im not so fond however of the Ironlak fumes. Smells nice for a few mintues then it rots your lungs and your brain and the lungs and brains of people who are standing around watching haha. Not good. A necessary evil I suppose.

Mean Collab with Unit DWT and VKC. Hated it at first but loved how it turned out in the end.

Had a paint with Eek and The Bmd a few weekends ago. Loved how it turned out.

Note to self: Buy a respirator! I felt all jittery and out-of-sorts after having paint blowing in my face for 2 1/2 hours.

Askew

Askew and Co. rolled through town over the long weekend and gave LeftBank a tidy up. Glad to see that LeftBank is getting some well deserved attention from some out-of-towners. Askew, Riot, Unit, DWT crew.... I wonder who else is going to show up?!?









I've always had trouble taking a front on shot down LeftBank due to the alley being so narrow, so while I tried to use the Panoramic function on my camera I managed to royally fuck it up and ended up with this photo above. Im liking the compostion though...

Meanwhile......

Unit informed me that someone had gone and tagged ''JEW'' and drawn swastikas across his piece. Whoever the culprit is needs a serious reality check. If your going to cap someone with some inane comment or symbol at least come up with something original. If you knew the true origin of the swastika I doubt you would team it with the word JEW. Grow up!

If your going to be disrespectful, do it tastefully.

I interrupt what I was originally going to post next because I saw these photos from my lovely friend Sarah in the UK who had taken them and uploaded them to Facebook for me.

Sarah is quite well travelled so im not entirely sure where in the world these photos were taken though I suspect they were in London somewhere. I love them nonetheless.
