Pirates Yelz Eek

Thursday evening saw the opening of the Pirates Exhibit at Manky Chops Gallery. I don't think I need to explain how awesome it was. Known for their clean line work, Cast and Editor with the help of a few good friends definately put it on.

Pirates exhibit runs til 13th March @ Manky Chops Gallery, Lvl 1, 166 Cuba St.

....................

I managed to escape work for half and hour to head up to Start Gallery on Cuba Street for Yelz & Eeks' exhibit opening on Friday night. Had I been able to hang out longer I would have taken some snaps :-(
Show runs until 11th March.

Miss Mica
added her piece to the wall already inhabited by Ghostie and PNTR. Love her bold colour work!! And good to see someone mixing it up a bit and using brushes on the streets of Wellington.

Miss Mica

Miss Mica is a force to contend with!

After witnessing her work broadcast across a 50+ square metre wall tonight I'll be the first to say that she's going to make her mark on Wellington if she hasn't already
.
Thank you Mica for the awesome display and keeping me company! That oil/vinegar versus the bread was epic!

TIBAT

I had heard through ther Graf-vine that a bunch of stencils had gone up near our national Museum Te Papa. SO while on the hunt for them I walked up to Chaffers and found the above by Tibat. Reminds me a little of Ikon RTR.

Could this have been made by the person responsible for the Queercore stencils that appeared last year?

Spotted another nice Tibat piece that is slightly out of the way. Never seen anything go up on this wall too which is even better.

I've got some serious posting to catch up on!

CAST hitting the heavens. Heavens seem to be proving popular with Welly writers of late.

Good to see something good going up in Leftbank. I hardly ever go down there due to the lack of decent stuff to photograph. SPURT holding it down.

UNIT has beed putting up some pretty decent stuff around town lately. More to come in the next post or 2.

....................

I found a site through ASKEW1.COM called The Exchange where Graff writers exchange sketches/outlines and send them on to other writers to paint. It's a farking cool concept involving some of the best writers around.

Check it out HERE

Have you ordered your KRINK t-shirts from MrGraffiti.com yet?

One Love

Headed up to Hataitai Velodrome for OneLove to celebrate Waitangi day/Bob Marleys' birthday and got to watch the lovely Xoe Hall and Yelz painting a trailer that will be the FRINGE HQ for 3 weeks.

Unfortunately I had to leave and go to work (GRRR!!)

As we arrived I saw this man in the photo above rocking out by himself. Hope I'm like that when I'm his age!

I'll do some serious catch-up posts tomorrow.Choice

FELT IT!

FELT IT! pulls together a collection of artwork which shows off the diversity and achievements of the endearing felt tip pen.

While often thought of as a child’s medium, with cheap, throwaway connotations, the felt tip pen rightly assumes centre stage in this showcase of exciting new work made by some of Wellington’s hottest Artists, Illustrators, Costumiers, Cartoonists, and Film Makers.
