Isn't it Swonderful!

The wall at Swonderful has hosted a few Wellington artists on its walls, the latest being Drypnz The BMD and Ragdoll (?)

I hadn't really taken any notice of this wall since Sin put up his larger than life Paste-up of a girl and a banner advertising the store, which was sadly eaten away by passers-by but I couldn't miss this one!

Love how colourful this mural is and how the photos turned out. I was wondering how Drypnz could expand on his already extremely popular and lovable characters, The Dryppls and the answer is to go bigger! If his Flickr page is anything to go by I think he'll have his roller with him everytime he paints.

I dig how The BMD's child like style of characters tie in well with the innocence of the girl on her trike.

I've been asked twice if these ducks were done by Surplus Bargains but i'm not sure.

Just some random info I got excited about. I was watching LA Ink (trashy yes!!) in the weekend and a New Zealander was on getting a portrait tattoo of his friend Brizz. After I looked at the reference photo they had I realised that it was Auckland Graf artist HATE (the original) that passed away in a car accident in 2005. Although they make no reference to his graf I tried to find the episode on Youtube etc but couldn't seem to source it. If anyone is interested its Episode 6 of Collection 3.

Coming up.....

Stuffed animals / Graffography

Surplus Bargains continues to amaze me! The man above, so I've been told is Sir Walter Buller an Ornithologist who killed and stuffed many native bird species.

Haasts Eagle is another extinct bird of New Zealand. It was the largest predatory bird in existence.

Go check out SURPLUSBARGAINS.CO.NZ while your here.

Saturday April 25th

I recieved these photos in my email from Mark McGeady, who's photo I had seen of a Cast piece behind the opera house.

I did have a panoramic shot of this mural in Te Aro but Marks' is wayyyy better haha.

...A new Drypnz character in Leftbank. Again, his photo is better than mine haha.

.. Eek (recieved today)

You can check Marks photography blog @ graffography.blogspot.com.

Thanks Mark!

A new era

Now that I've got my new camera under control, after a few minor hiccups involving miscommunication between myself and the instruction manual I went out to see if anything decent had been put up in my absence. I found some larger-than-life Surplus Bargains paste-ups! Worthy first subjects I must say. We hadn't seen Surplus around for a long time and I had wondered where and when he was going to pop up next. It appears that street artists are creatures of habit as we've seen Surplus place his creations in the same spot before. I say he has officially claimed it as his own!

Having been off the graf radar I didn't really pay attention to the usual sticks and tags etc outside Manky Chops and had walked passed their numerous times without even noticing these Flamingos posing as umbrellas. Unfortunately, as always, ugly tags had ruined it before I could get a clean shot. Ah Well.

I think I may have seen the above picture down Lambton Quay a little while ago, not quite sure though. This particular one is on Ghuznee St.
