BoomBox

I've been pretty slack on the social front lately so missed out on a show-slash-party at BoomBox but a chance meeting with Elie got me an up to date run down on what was going on.

So, I headed over to B.Bx after work to get some shots of the work on show

Chillin....

Went down to the 'ol Boombox to help them celebrate their successful relocation to Garret Street on Labour Day. Beats, Beer and a BBQ seemed to keep everyone happy.

It's amazing what new surroundings can do for someone. You can see in the design of Boombox that the countless faces behind the scenes have really put some effort into getting the vibe just right. I've already heard today someone saying that Boombox is the best retail store in Wellytown and I think I'm going to have to agree too.

While I was there I couldn't help but go take a peek at what was going on down LeftBank and was suprised to find a very well known writer-slash-tagger putting it down only to be joined by a fellow more notorious crew member, with paint in tow, a few minutes later......

Now, just to clear it up, LeftBank ISN'T legal Or a safe spot for anyone to paint without permission from the owner/s of the building. I wasn't surprised to see the cops come marching one-by-one down LeftBank to lay down the law. Luckily none of the writers got taken away (although someone who was merely watching did, but thats another story)

kaBOOM !~!~!

Props to Boombox for making the big move, settling in, and making the side streets of Wellington worthwhile to visit! Come and help them celebrate!

...Elie and I had a conversation about people only sticking to the main routes and chain stores and not really exploring others parts of our city. Garret Street has some big plans ahead. And with the addition of Peoples Coffee and now Boombox it is most probably more popular than ever.

The "Zombie Wall" mural in the carpark off Garret Street was one of the first pictures I uploaded to my Myspace before I knew anything about this blog business. Even though it is usually surrounded by cars, I think it compliments the area. Why not park there and visit Boombox and check some local graf talent while your at it!? Cross Glover Park and go visit LeftBank! ....... Found these stencils today and knew that Boombox had settled in and claimed back their territory.

I'll hit everyone with some pics of the Boombox Relocation labour day BBQ in my next blog. Coming soon ......

Ghetto Fabulous!

Anyone into graf in Wellington knows BoomBox gallery. Just down from Leftbank and around the corner from Cuba Mall, it almost makes it a neccesity to stop in there when your in the area. A fuse box outside has become a bit of a hot spot for tags and slaps, constantly changing and giving me (and a few other dedicated graf heads) more photo opportunities.

Yesterday I was putting some FREE PHOTOS up and saw Elie who mentioned that I could take some photos of all the slaps plastered up in the back room of Boomies. While I was there I thought Id abuse my rights and take some shots of the shop.
