Carnival Leftovers..

Just a few more shots I have left from Cuba Street Carnival.....

Went up to Manky Chops and the place is looking crazy. Almost like a graff'd out alley way somewhere off a back street. Go check it for yourself!

Ranty Carnival

Before I continue on with Cuba Street Carnival there are a few things I feel I should clear up to save the confusion. I was approached by 2 people on separate occasions during the carnival and asked why I hadn't put up any pictures for a long time. This confused the shit out of me as I had been doing posts regularly since I got back from holiday 3 or so weeks ago. After a few comments made about writers etc I realised that they had me confused with LeftBank.co.nz

Just so it's clear, I lent a helping hand in the early stages of the Left Bank blog, but I don't hold the domain name and the idea was someone else's. I have had enough trouble keeping up with this blog let alone having 2 graf/street art blogs to come home to at night. 'Nuff said.

Where were we?....

For most of the carnival I felt like I was constantly in a rush to get photos or be here, there and eveywhere. I really didnt fancy braving the crowd to make it up to see Misery and Co. painting an old Bedford truck or to see Ikon and Cut Collective painting a bus (which I hear is running it's normal service for 3 months!) So I waited til It died down a bit before I made my way up there.

I finally got around to dragging my ass up to Manky Chops to get the finished works. More photos to come in the very near future.

Cuba Street Carnival

Man, Since Cut Collective have been in town for the Cuba Street Carnival I've been unindated with fresh pics to post.. and I think it's spurred on a few local artists to go out there and do something new too!

Manky Chops hosted 'Freshly Painted' a live painting event for Cuba Street Carnival Featuring Cut Collective, Sole, Eeks, TS, Mica Still, Moni (goddam it! where did I put the flyer?!).... and lots more If I could remember them haha. Although the nazi carnival organisers tried to shut it down numerous times due to complaints of the paint fumes, it attracted 1000's of people that were eager to see some fucking talented artists proving that the art scene is very much alive and well. All completed works are showing til Saturday 14th march at:

Manky Chops Gallery

Lvl 1 166 Cuba St

(yeah! I finally got video up!)

I've decided to split the Cuba Street Carnival posts up into 2 or 3 over the next week because I have so many photos that if I put them all up, this post would be never-ending. More pics of buses, Misery and Mica to come.

While Im here, Check out the WgtnWallStreet.com interview in Massey University's Magazine Magneto. You can get a free copy of it at Midnite Espresso Cuba Street.
See you soon.

Go on over to NeonSleep's page to see some photos of the night...... Or check this article from tv3 interviewing Flox and Trustme. Thanks Gypsy!

Nelson

Marlborough Sounds
Taken from my window on the plane

Nelson isn't known for its graffiti culture so I wasnt given much to work with while I was there except the Lovable Drypnz who had stickers plastered up everywhere.

One good thing about Nelson however is that any stickers etc that are put up will most likely die of old age as opposed to someone ripping them down. I was surprised to see a sticker combo I started up in Tahunanui still fully intact and one in the middle off town still going strong.

Now since I've been gone over a week I really should be out there getting anything that has gone up in my absence, but Im so glad to be home that I don't want to leave the house, plus my ears are giving me grief after a bit of over exposure to the sea.
