Boogey. Man. Designs?

Theres been a BMD explosion around town! Little monsters and crazy creatures have taken over any fusebox, street sign, bare walls, buffed spots and letter boxes from here to Newtown and back!

Most Street Artists are truly elusive and BMD is no exception. We dont know much about him/her but we're more than happy to let the stickers and paste ups speak for themselves. We noticed a similarity to the work of BLOK but cant rule that out til we have confirmation.

Boots are made for walking

Being an avid graf hound you always notice any new slaps, burners, throwies or any other form of street art that keep your camera busy. Pink Boots is a recent addition to the slapstick scene. Usually her sticks (Yes I've had it confirmed that it is a girl) are mixed media and usually very feminine and bright.

Lipstick, curvy women and the said Pink Boots have appeared around town. Lets hope we see more of her work!

Dusk woz here!

Since we had some better than-average-weather over the weekend it was no surprise that some new creations went up to compliment the walls from around the way.

Dusk has certainly claimed her spot on Ghuznee street and is usually accompanied by Eeks. This weekend they must have decided to mix it up a bit.

I saw Eeks on my usual trip to the bakery before work (Mmmm pies!) and I asked if they were his paste ups next to the new Dusk. He said no. They belonged to N-DOGG. I thought he was taking the piss or it was his new Street art name but I later had confirmation that it was infact someone called N-DOGG. And being a generous guy, Eeks pointed me in the direction of his latest Paste up...a tribute to Andy Warhol maybe? Or was he hungry and really wanted soup? Who can say!?!

Obviously someone didn't agree with the placement of this....or were they just being a hater?

Slope 19.09.08

Headed up to Manky Chops with E on Friday night to check out Slope's first solo show in 4 years. I have been a myspace friend with Slope for as long as I can remember and have always admired his multi layer style and use of colours and contour lines. Naturally being a fan I was looking forward to seeing his work close up.

Good turn out and awesome art work made for a pretty successful evening.

The exhibit runs for two weeks and finishs Saturday October 4th.

Slaps

Some slaps from around the way...

Must be a steady supply of crack in Wellington to get Amy Winehouse to come to town..... 'I said no! no! no!'

...And the winner is?!?!

Leftbank.co.nz have won the Wellington Civic Trust Street Art award!!

This was the first time this category had been entered in these awards. And not having heard of the Wellington Civic Trust before we were stoked to be nominated.

The slide show for this presentation made by Callum gave a fair representation of Wellington Graffiti. Sin, DR, Silenc and a few other well known writers were displayed proudly. We were all amazed at the quality of the pictures considering all photos taken for Lefties are done on a Nokia camera phone.

So, where we go from here is still very much unknown. After all the political bullshit that graf in New Zealand has had over the last year it was good to see graffiti shown in a positive light.

Congratulations E! And thank you to Top Shelf/Triple S crew for being supportive and humble, Surplus Bargains and all the other nominees in all categories.
