Tonks Grove

Ok. I had made a video of the guys painting but it almost exposed too much of their true identity (Super Hero Syndrome??) so I'll stick to posting pics for now.

Such a sweet spot to paint, kinda gutted I missed out on joining in, ah well, next time.

...Meanwhile on the other side of town

The BMD owning LeftBank.

It seems to me that people have yet to realise that BMD are pretty much unstoppable. For every character that gets capped they've got another 10 or so ready to go up. You can't help but love them.

Have you checked out GRAFFOGRAPHY yet?

  2. In my opinion BMD are doing too much, being too public (Magento, Salient, handing shit out to people). There is no mystery around them. BMD is thrashed and TOTALLY PREDICTABLE.

  3. In my opinion, you cant imagine how much fun BMD is having.

  5. referring to the first anonymous. who are you to say whats too much, bmd do heaps I'd agree, but I want more, as does every other person I've ever meet. it is ILLEGAL and bmd, and any street artist, are risking a lot to do what they do. I'm grateful, its free and fresh art, and its not predictable, things pop up everyday, and Ive seen bmd things in places that were totally unexpected. from what I can imagine it must take a lot of time, and money at that. you sound a bit unapreciative, stop wingeing.

  6. it's free art, and i have huge respect for those that get amongst. don't know how fresh it is though (BMD work). their characters are old and basic. in the case of street art less is more. to me a street artist remains discreet and is constantly evolving. i used to see BMD work and think dam this is sweet and fresh. now i just think oh yeah another simple character in a pretty standard location. that is just my personal view on shit though.

  7. I think STU pretty much summed it up.

A good friend said to me once that there are alot of artists out there that are obsessed with making their work all fancy and technical when they dont have the skill to pull it off. While I am all for personal development whats wrong with rocking out a quick character in 1 or 2 basic colours.

Street art relies heavily on opportunity. If they are given an opportunity to put something up in the same place as the last I dont think that many would turn it down.Take LeftBank for example. Its about having fun and giving back to your city something that you enjoy doing.

To know The Bmd is to love The Bmd. They ARE your friends after all.

(Thank you to those who commented)

  8. It doesn't take a friend or anyone to tell you that when someone attempts something like street art and fails to pull it off it is clear that they lack the skill. Its plain obvious. It just looks like shit. I'm not advocating that. When people tag etc i don't think the intend on giving back to the city at all. Judging by your comments you clearly have a huge bias toward BMD. They may be my friends in the cryptic sense but to be honest im over them. And my eyes and ears are open and i've noticed i'm not the only one..

  9. Fair call.

And yes I may be bias toward The BMD but I wouldnt call it huge. And for that matter Im bias toward ANY street artist that chooses to go out and do what they do. You wouldnt be here commenting if I wasnt.

Personal opinions aside. Be pro active and add to it instead of putting it down. If you dont like what you see, change it. Easy.

    Im loving this haha :o)
