Sin

I've always found it hard to 'talk up' friends without thinking I sound like a dickhead. I'll let these photos of Sins work to speak for themselves.

Some old some new.

As reported on Leftbank.co.nz Sin got busted while putting his stencil skills to good use. I assume the nazis that live there dobbed him in.

Marking your territory

I read somewhere that writers/street artists usually hit anywhere within in a 1km radius from where they live. If this point is true it means that BMD lives somewhere close to Eva St. He appears to have claimed this street as his own and frequents it more than a junkie visits their dealer. It's drawing point IMO is the privacy to get something up without being harassed and the abundance of spacious walls.

The picture above is a 'tribute' stencil paste-up to Theo Gommans. He is the mastermind behind 'DOB A TAGGER' and the 'PINK VEST ' hair brained schemes that would, supposedly, cut down graffiti vandalism in the Eastern suburbs.

Mad Skills

I'm sure milkshake smelling perfume was added to Ironlak so it makes it easier for the 5-0 to sniff any writers out before they are seen. I was walking down through Leftbank (the shop area of Leftbank) and got a huge whiff of the said Ironlak and knew that either someone was painting or had just hit it. To my surprise I found Ikon painting up a quote ''QUICK PIECE''

I was relieved that it was someone with some skill doing it because we all now how shit Leftbank has been over the last 3 or 4 months, Crappy tags over decent pieces has made it look like the local kindergarten had escaped with a box of crayons and drawn on the walls while mummy wasn't looking. Lets cross our fingers and hope THE BIG BUFF keeps it spik-n-span for at least 5 minutes.

Erase

I havent't really posted anything by Erase mainly because he sticks to LeftBank. But after I saw this piece I couldn't help but want to put it up. The first time we saw him paint was down Leftbank painting close to a Dryp mural. He was going by a different name then but had a definate style that was instantly recognisable.

For a young dude he's got some mean steez!

..Sorry about the shitty picture quality, it's late and I shouldn't have had that last beer lol..

DRYPPLS vs WELLINGTON

I cant even begin to explain how much of an avid fan I am of Drypnz. He was the first Wellington artist I kept track of out of sheer curiousity and admiration. Just like a few others around the way hes been hated on by a few people. But being as diplomatic as he is, he doesn't let it get to him.

We hadn't seen his paste-ups around for a while. Organising exhibitions, work commitments and Uni must have kept him busy so I was excited to hear that a few Dryppls had appeared overnight.

The carpark that I found this Dryppl in is usually only filled with throwies and tags so was happy to find this roll up.

Hidden Gems

Made our way up Mt Vic to go to a minus-the-costume halloween BBQ and found this just off the side of the road. Later I asked Yelz if it were a 'legal' piece. He said no. saying something about a friend et ceterea and that it was done without permission.

2 weeks later and I was searching for some new spots to get some paste-ups going and I decided to cut through some of the old roads that were there before the bypass. As usual I was on the lookout for any graf I might have missed and noticed some blue patterns sticking out on a wall behind a fence. I managed to open the gate and saw that FoothHead, Dryp and then Yelz had painted this up. Crazy!! A friend thought it was Eeks when I showed him the photo and I could see the similarity.

Unfortunately someone decided that writing 'BITCH AS' would somehow enhance the look of it. Think not!

One night out pasting.

Went out on a pastey mission with Eeks, Yelz and He Who Shall Remain Nameless last week. I was used to going out pasting by myself and having other people with you adds a certain dynamic.

Some of the first paste ups I ever photographed in Wellington belonged to Yelz so seeing him in pastey mode was pretty cool.

Eeks

Eeks had painted a stone and glued this up with putty.

As we walked toward where ever looked like a good spot I got talking to the friend that Yelz had brought (He Who Shall Remain Nameless) along. This was a his first paste-up mission so was just as excited about it as I was.... Hope we get to see more of his stuff around!
