International

We're gonna go international on ya for this post.....

A friend sent me these photos of graf spots from his recent travels. Always good to see whats going on in other parts of the world.

Shepard Fairey MAY DAY

My Graf link Guru (you know who you are ) emailed me this flick found on Twitter of Shepard Faireys MAY DAY exhibit at Deitch Projects in
New York City. As you can tell by the photo it caused a roadblock.

After viewing THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO the crowd seemed in awe of the work displayed .... but somehow I don't agree with the quote made by the man in the queue about Shepard Fairey having the 'OBAMA ANGLE' wtf? This was also the last exhibit at the Dietch Projects.

....................

Christian Guermy AKA C215 known for his intricate stencil work that have appeared the world over had a solo show in Rome (that closed today)

....................

Faile and Bast held the NYC edition of their Deluxx Fluxx arcade exhibit/installation recently. Check out ARRESTED MOTION for more pics.... Wish it would visit NZ!

....................

Although it has already been well documented I thought I'd mention it anyway.
The last remaining publicly visible Banksy stencil in Melbourne's Hosier Lane has been buffed. It has been stated that the stencil of a parachuting rat was applied outside of the legal area hence making it fair game for the council buff squad.
What are your thoughts on the matter?

IMO I find it strange that everyone is up in arms about it. Is it because of the monetary value OR the fame associated with the illusive artist? I'm positive that in the long and varied culture of Graffiti that this is and will not be the only piece of work that gets buffed by the authorities. Whether or not the artist is famous, worth thousands of pounds or adorns the living room walls of celebrities is beside the point. Better work gets buffed everyday. Wah wah wah

  1. Your very right, the self assuredness of Mark Kostabi (Guy in line) seems very nieve and a little thoughtless

  2. Exactly, Plus SF didnt have permission to use the portrait of Barack Obama in his HOPE campaign posters. Naughty.
